In June, we had our first ever Artist Appreciation Week. Every class from Reception to Year 6 learned about a different artist, ranging from pop artists and wildlife artists to the impressionists and African craftworkers.
Children took part in activities across the curriculum from English and French to dance and geography, based on their chosen artist’s work and the week was bursting with fun artwork too, of course!
The children not only learned about artists and the different styles and techniques used, they also got stuck in and did some amazingly creative artwork. We discovered some great artistic talent – in the children and the adults – through painting, drawing, printing, sculpture, collage, photography and textiles work.
