    Raewyn Harris

    Present day

Raewyn Harris was born in Waipukurau in Hawke's Bay, New Zealand. As a teacher, she enjoyed teaching art to children at all levels, always encouraging them to express themselves in ways which reflect their cultural identity and love of their environment.

She is currently exploring the use of watercolours, pastels and charcoal, and her inspiration is taken from the landscape and the people who live in and love New Zealand. The colours and patterns of nature provide a rich source of ideas for her artwork.

We sent Raewyn Harris some photographs of Everest class' work. She said, "Thank you so much for sharing the children’s beautiful artworks and the display looks amazing. Congratulations to the class involved. I so love to see children’s art.
To be one of your Artists Appreciation Week chosen artists has been awesome."

His portraits are often based on photographs of young men whom Wiley sees on the street. He has painted men from Harlem's 125th Street, as well as the South Central Los Angeles neighbourhood where he was born. Dressed in street clothes, his models were asked to assume poses from the paintings of Renaissance masters.
